Two years after tying the knot, the actress/singer and frontman for the band Death Cab for Cutie are going their separate ways. Zooey Deschanel and Ben Gibbard split was amicable and mutual, and wasn’t caused by a third party. Their split was confirmed by the musician’s rep.

Zooey Deschanel, who is also in a band of her own : “She & Him,” met Ben Gibbard through a mutual manager three years ago. In 2009, the pair wed near Seattle after Gibbard proposed to Deschanel with a three carat diamond and platinum ring.

I wonder what caused Zooey Deschanel and Ben Gibbard split? Because in a recent interview, Deschanel opened up about her relationship with Gibbard, reiterating that marriage takes work. According to her,

“The most surprising thing is that it’s not really different. You still have to make a commitment and think about that commitment every day. It’s not like you get married and then all the work is done for you. You get married and you’re still in a relationship and you’re still doing your best to make it the best relationship you can…You still have to make the effort and be kind and understanding.”

Zooey Deschanel is very busy with her profession as an actress. Her Fox show “New Girl” has been a success and was picked up for a full season earlier in the fall, she just released her Christmas album, “A Very She & Him Christmas.”

A source tells that, Zooey Deschanel and Ben Gibbard split could lead to a more worse situation called “divorce.”
