Whitney Houston Died At 48

On the eve of Grammy Awards pop queen Whitney Houston at 48. She was called “the voice”, but her career suffered by her turbulent life during her marriage with Bobby Brown when she became a heavy drug user and alcoholic.

Her angelic voice was ruined by drugs and alcohol, as well as her personal life while she was married to a troubled singer, who was even arrested several times for domestic violence.

After she was find in a hotel room, Beverley Hills police announced that Huston died Saturday afternoon in her room of the Beverley Hilton. Police noted that there were no obvious signs of violence, but that the investigation will reveal the cause of death.

Police was called from a hotel security while paramedics where trying to CPR.

The death of Huston came only one night before the Grammy’s where she was planed to attend, but now, the organizers changed the program and Jennifer Hudson will give her a special tribute. She was supposed to sing at the gala at Saturday night. Two days ago, she performed at a pre-Grammy party with singer Kelly Price.

She was an authority in the music during the 80’s and 90’s, but she also appeared at the big screen as an actress in hits like “The Bodyguard” and “Waiting to Exhale.”

Houston was the perfect combination of voice, beauty and tasteful sexuality, but she became also a symbol of of the toll of drug use.

“The biggest devil is me. I’m either my best friend or my worst enemy,” Houston told ABC’s Diane Sawyer in 2002 interview.

It was a typical story about the fall of the superstar, she was one of the top selling singers ever, she sold more that 55 million records in USA.

Someone said that she had it all – voice, looks, her godmother was Aretha Franklin, she was the daughter of gospel singer Cissy Houston and the niece of Dionne Warrwick, one of the pop superstars from 1960’s.

She used all of her advantages, started her career as a child and built her way up to the stars as one of the greatest female vocals at the time.

Her album debut in 1985 with “Whitney Houston” was sold in millions of copies, and than she produced on hit after another like “Saving All My Love for You”, “How Will I Know,” “You Give Good Love” and “The Greatest Love of All”,  ”Where Do Broken Hearts Go” and “I Wanna Dance With Somebody.”

She won many awards including six Grammy’s.

In 1992 she married Bobby Brown which led her to drug use and a contravesial marriage with many brake ups and reunions. They have daughter Bobbi Kristina, born in 1993.

“When you love, you love”, she stated in one of her interviews trying to describe their relationship.

They divorced in 2007.

After few rehab attempts, Houston declared herself drug-free to Oprah Winfrey in 2009.

She published her come back “I Look To You” in 2009, she started on the top of the charts, but things went wrong. Her live appearances showed that her voice was cracked.

She was also considered to be one of the judges on the U.S. “The X Factor”.

“She would have been the ultimate, ultimate mentor to any contestant coming on the show,” Simon Cowell said.

The investigation will reveal the cause of her sudden death.
