Sinag Pilipinas beats Cambodia, 127 -68, in their first match at the 2011 Southeast Asian Games on Monday at the Kelapa Gading Sports Mall, Jakarta, Indonesia. The Philippine national basketball team, Sinag Pilipinas is composed of Justin Chua (Ateneo Blue Eagles), Chris Ellis (NLEX Road Warriors), Ryan Garcia (FEU Tamaraws), Cliff Hodge (NLEX Road Warriors), Garvo Lanete (San Beda Red Lions), Eman Monfort (Ateneo Blue Eagles), Bobby Ray Parks (NU Bulldogs), Jake Pascual (San Beda Red Lions), Kiefer Ravena (Ateneo Blue Eagles), Nico Salva (Ateneo Blue Eagles), Greg Slaughter (Ateneo Blue Eagles) and Chris Tiu (Smart Gilas — team captain) with reserves Jeric Fortuna (UST Growling Tigers) and Jeric Teng (UST Growling Tigers).

Sinag Pilipinas beats Cambodia with a 127-68, Monday afternoon in Indonesia. The Philippine national basketball team pulled away from Cambodia early in the first period, when they unleashed a 12-0 run to turn a 13-all deadlock to a 25-13 lead, wherein Cambodia could not recover from that run, and the Philippines posted leads of as much as 59 points and ran away with the victory.

Sinag Pilipinas is hoping to duplicate the feat achieved by the Gabe Norwood-led Philippine team in the 2007 SEA Games, which romped its way to the gold medal. The Philippine national basketball team, Sinag Pilipinas will face the team from Vietnam Today, Tuesday, November 15 at 4 p.m. and Sinag Pilipinas vs. Thailand, November 16, 12 noon.

Meanwhile, the Philippine Women’s basketball team, defeated defending champion Malaysia with the score 64-56.
