Selma Hayek awarded with the Légion d’Honneur

After Clint Eastwood, Robert Redford and Robert De Niro, this year Selma Hayec will join the Hollywood stars who will be awarded with  the Légion d’Honneur , the high French medal which is annually awarded.

Selma Hayek is on this years slist for the the Légion d’Honneur  annual French medal given by Nicolas Sarkozy. She will get the title of Chevalier, otherwise known as a Knight. The formal ceremony will take place in the next two months and she will be awarded directly by the president at the Élysées Palace.

Hayek is married to French businessman Francois-Henri Pinault, whose father Francois Pinault was recently promoted to Grand Officer.

This award was founded first by Napoleon and it usually awards civilians or military officers for serving the country, but it is not exclusively awarded to French citizens.

The Mexican born actress is on the list of more than 800 people selected to be knighted directly by French president Nicolas Sarkozy . In the official explanation it was written that Hayek is a “director and producer (and) active member of charitable foundations for 23 years”.

Also in the last 10 years it is often to think that the value of the award devolved, because the lists of the recipients are longer from year to year and it is a common opinion that they are giving it away like candies on a Helloween.

Salma Hayek will receive her medal in a ceremony in the French presidential palace, and her father in law Francois Pinault, will be honored in the same ceremony.
