Tonight we will finally know who are the Grammy award winners, but during the launching of the Grammy weekend on a Friday night Coldplay, Katy Perry, Tony Bennett and Neil Young, James Taylor, Diana Krall and Foo Fighters among others in honored Paul McCartney as the MusiCares Person of the Year.
The former Batle was honored for his musical achievements and philanthropic work and he didn’t hided his emotions:
“It’s great for me to be here. It’s fantastic to hear all these fantastic artists doing my songs.’’ he told the crowd in the Los Angeles Convention Center.
Even the menu was vegetarian to show the respect to the McCartney’s diet and lifestyle. But, don’t be fooled it was a quite of a menu – mozzarella, vegetables, pastry, tomatoes and “fake” meat.
“We love Paul and we’re happy to be here’’, Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin said.
Media reports with the details from the events confirmed that it was a night to remember, and Sir Paul was happy at that night to remember.
The night was ended by an intimate atmosphere in a manner of the jazz club when McCartney himself performed “My Valentine’’ a song dedicated to his new wife Nancy Shevell, and “I’m Gonna Sit Right Down and Write Myself a Letter”. He also sang two songs from his new album “Kisses On the Bottom.’’ He was accompanied by Diana Krall on the piano.
