nissan leaf - Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. unveiled yesterday the world’s first affordable, zero-emission car called the “Nissan Leaf.” Designed specifically for a lithium-ion battery-powered chassis, Nissan LEAF is a medium-size hatchback that comfortably seats five adults and has a driving range of more than 160km (100 miles) and headed in late 2010 in Japan, the United States, and Europe.
This Nissan Electric Car is using a direct-current quick charger, Nissan says the Leaf’s battery pack can be recharged up to 80 percent in less than 30 minutes. Recharging at home, with 200-volt AC service, will take less than 8 hours. Regenerative braking is also a key factor in extending the Leaf’s range. The battery pack is mounted under the car’s seats and floor. And Nissan Leaf price range is about the same with a well-equipped C-segment vehicle–such as the Sentra–which points toward a sticker price somewhere near the $30,000 range.
Power-saving technologies include the use of light-emitting diodes for the headlamps, which are also shaped to direct airflow around the front door mirrors. And owners will be able to use their mobile phones to command the car’s air conditioning to turn on. Nissan Leaf Electric Car is really cool
