national-doughnut-day

national doughnut day 2009 – Hey Guys!  today June 05, 2009  is national dougnut day.  Why did they call it national doughnut day?  this is because your chance to grab yourself a free doughnut.  So what are you waiting for, dig in!

Among the participating stores for the national doughnut day are Krispy Creme and Dunkin Donuts. They are going to give one doughnut for every customer for free. Krispy Creme will be giving one doughnut per customer even if you do not buy anything. Ofcourse, with the economic crisis going on in the U.S. and other countries, you might as well consider buying some drinks like coffee to partner with your free doughnut. On the other hand, Dunkin Donuts will give one free doughnut if you purchase a drink. This is ofcourse on a per customer basis.

Let me give you a brief history on how National Donut Day started. National Doughnut Day was first held in 1938. This is in accordance to the fund raising campaign of the Chicago Salvation Army. The proceeds of the campaign will go to poor people who are greatly affected during the World War 1. This is also to honor the Lassies or the salvation army which basically served doughnuts to soldiers during their war in the borderlines of France.

Now that you know why there is a National Doughnut Day 2009, would you still go out and grab that free doughnut? If you ask me, I will definitely do. After all, a free food is more delicious than the one you purchased. But then again, keep in mind the history of the National Donut Day while savoring that yummy doughnut of yours.
