On Thursday, minutes after rehearsing her performance for Sunday night’s MTV Europe Music Awards, Miley Cyrus sat down with MTV News to discuss her plans, both for the big show and another, equally big event: her upcoming 18th birthday.
Less than two weeks after her parents filed for divorce, and she may have been photographed drinking underage in a Madrid nightclub read the story here, yet Miley Cyrus knows what she wants for her upcoming 18th birthday — to have her family together.
Even Miley didn’t mention where she’d be celebrating her 18th, she did mention that she hopes her whole family will be with her for the big day, something that’s equally newsworthy, given everything that’s been going on with her parents, Tish and Billy Ray Cyrus, in recent weeks. She said,
“I’m not going to go crazy; [just] have a fun party and then maybe take a vacation with my family … because that would be really cool. I think we need time to all be together. So that would be rad if we could all go to the beach or something. … [I have] no idea [where we're going]; somewhere near water. I’m a water baby; I have to be near the water and I love doing scuba and going out and being on a boat.”
Miley Cyrus parents, Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus, filed for divorce on October 26 after 17 years of marriage.
Billy Ray filed for the divorce citing irreconcilable differences. He is asking for shared custody of the couple’s three minor children and an “equitable distribution of the marital estate.” The “Achy Breaky Heart” singer is also is asking the court to approve an agreed upon “parenting plan” for their children.
