Now we know how Johnny Depp looks in upcoming Dark Shadows. His new character is Barnabus Collins, the vampire in the movie he is shooting with Tim Burton.
The movie is announced to released May 11 and it’s also staring Michelle Pfeiffer, Helena Bonham Carter and Johnny Lee Miller. The storyline is based on gothic soap opera, where Barnabus Collins fights other creatures like witches, werewolves and ghosts.
Johnny Depp as Barnabus Collins is not a good looking, heartbraking, dashing, shining, sexy vampire as we used in past years. He is scary, pale, with dark circles around his eyes with ugly long fingernails.
Warner Bros. has released a new picture of the screen version of the soap opera played from1966-1971. Barnabus Collins is a vampire who was buried alive 300 years ago and he managed to escape his dungeon in the 20th century when construction workers disovered him. He was transformed into a vampire against his will and he act like a gentlemen from 1700’s.
Even though Johnny Depp as Barnabus Collins is not presented as a sexy creature, he is still charismatic and woman fall for him.
“In some sense he can be a terrifying killer; on the other hand, women have a weakness for him and he has a weakness for women”, screenwriter Seth Grahame-Smith explained.
This “good vampire” sometimes can’t resist his instincts like hunger or price, so in some cases he is not totally nice. Gentleman and beast is the new Johnny Depp as Barnabus Collins and that kind of characters he plays best. In the cooperation with his friend Burton it must be a success.
