Elisabetta Canalis Eliminated on Second Week of Dancing With the Stars
Elisabetta Canalis, who romanced George Clooney has done her last dance on “Dancing With the Stars.” Despite her third-place finish on Monday’s episode, she was dismissed from the show Tuesday. She and professional partner Val Chmerkovskiy earned 21 points out of 30 for their quickstep routine – a six point improvement over their debut dance. Yet, fans failed to keep the couple in the competition.
I guess the audience did not respond well to Elisabetta Canalis. She did not come across well or likable in the rehearsal segments where she showed getting very upset at her trainer. I did not think she should have treated him the way she did. It was quite rude. Or maybe the show purposely manipulates the audience and keeps them captive by asking the partners to create drama amongst them. A way to add vinegar and spice to an otherwise very routine, sometimes intensely painful 4-5 hours a day dance practice. You have two strong personalities, stress to compete, your bodies are burning with pain and you have differences in communication. Oh well! Only pros who are together for a long time and know each other well, may be better compatible over time. Even then they have creative differences.
However, Elisabetta Canalis said after learning her fate, “For me, it was a gift every day staying here. It was a great adventure. I want to thank everybody because they made me come here. Thanks to the public and to everybody who voted for us. Now I am really nervous, but thank you anyway. It was a great experience.”
Elisabetta Canalis earned mixed reviews for her routine Monday. Head judge Len Goodman said the dance was “not great but it was better than last week,” while fellow judge Carrie Ann Inaba told the couple, “You nailed it.”
Judges’ scores are combined with viewer votes to determine which celebrity is ousted each week. Val and Elisabetta Canalis eliminated after they earned the lowest combined judges’ score and viewers’ votes. They join Basketball star Ron Artest, now known as Metta World Peace, and partner Peta Murgatroyd, a professional dancer also new to the DWTS cast, who were eliminated after their week-one performances.
