ej henderson - Minnesota Vikings linebacker E.J. Herderson was hurt in the fourth quarter of Sunday nights game of Vikings vs. Cardinals.

E.J. Henderson’s leg injury came as he was trying to tackle Cardinals running back Tim Hightower, when E.J. collided with teammate Jamarca Sandford, flipped over and lay on the ground with pain.

E.J. Henderson is a seven-year veteran out of Maryland. He previously suffered a knee injury in late November, and entered Sunday’s game with 73 total tackles, 55 solo, and 18 assists.

Players were visibly shaken and near tears after a 30-17 loss to the Arizona Cardinals following the seriousness of a leg injury to middle linebacker E.J. Henderson, who suffered a fractured femur in his left leg when he collided with teammate Jamarca Sanford on a tackle attempt in the fourth quarter.

EJ Henderson was chasing running back Tim Hightower on the play, and Sanford came up field and went low for the tackle. Hightower cut in and Sanford hit Henderson in his leg while it was fully extended. Sanford said,

“It’s rough to see one of our top linebackers go down and knowing I was in on it and the cause of it… But it’s part of football. We were just playing hard and it’s just an injury. … When I came in I just took a shot at the running back. He stepped inside and E.J. was there and caught the initial blow.”

Henderson’s brother Erin, a backup linebacker, rode on the motorized cart with him, clutching both of his hands. Henderson was taken to a local hospital where Vikings coach Brad Childress said he’ll have surgery.

Hope E.J. Henderson will able to fully recover from this very serious injury and good thing it was only a broken femur, because upon seeing the video, it looked like it could have been a dislocated knee and multiple ligament tears.
