Bishop Walter Hawkins Died at 61

Bishop Walter Hawkins

Gospel music legend, pastor and composer Bishop Walter Hawkins has died at age 61. His young brother Edwin Hawkins reported that Bishop Walter Hawkins died on Sunday, July 11, 2010 at his home in Ripon, California. He had been battling with pancreatic cancer for some time.

“Today, I lost my brother, my pastor, and my best friend… Bishop Hawkins suffered bravely but now he will suffer no more and will be greatly missed,” Edwin Hawkins said.

His sickness only became known to his fans when he wasn’t able o attend the Stellar Awards in January, 2010. He also did not make it to the ‘Music & Arts Love Fellowship Conference’ organized by his brother in June 2010. During his more than 30 years of singing gospel songs, Hawkins created a remarkable 14 albums, with faith lifting songs.

Here are some of the gospel songs he created:

1. Thank You

2. Try Christ

3. Going Up Yonder

4. Changed

5. When The Battle Is Over

6. God Is Standing By

7. It’s Right And Good

8. Be Gratefu
l
9. Never Alone

I hope there will be a music company which will make a DVD which has all his songs so all the fans can have something to celebrate his life as well for years to come. Peace, prayer and blessings for his family.
