Try to observe the moon this Saturday January 10, 2008. It will be a full moon and you’ll be surprise how big it will appear. This event will surely amaze even seasoned sky observers because this will be the moon’s biggest and brightest display this 2009.

The Earth, the moon and the sun are all bound together by gravity, which keeps us going around the sun and keeps the moon going around us as it goes through phases. The moon makes a trip around Earth every 29.5 days. Both the moon and the earth’s orbit are not perfect circle which is why there will be seasons when the moon or sun will be closer to our planet. This Saturday night (Jan. 10, 2009) the moon will be at perigee, the closest point to us on this orbit. The biggest full moon this 2009.
It will appear about 14 percent bigger in our sky and 30 percent brighter than some other full moons during 2009, according to NASA. (A similar setup occurred in December, making that month’s full moon the largest of 2008.)
My family and I have actually seen the full moon last December 2008. While I was driving the car on the way to our home in manila, we’ve seen the full moon. I admit that there was a cold chill that I felt all over my body because it was the biggest full moon I’ve seen. It was really humongous. Just like the one you see on horror movies where wolves were howling and monster creeping. Really Creepy he he he….

@Alpaca Farmgir – I hope your wish will be granted
@Sandra – The full moon tonight is bright and big but last december 2008 is a lot bigger and creepier
I saw that moon in December, too! That was the night that there was a bomb threat at Walmart, just at the peak of holiday shopping. I wonder what weirdos will come out tonight! lol
I will be watching for this awesome moon tonight, and hoping it brings me a baby alpaca in the fields!
