Are classes suspended tomorrow October 18, 2010 in Metro Manila?

According to the Department of Education, classes are suspended tomorrow dated October 18, 2010 on the following areas or provinces which were placed under signal number 2 and 3 due to the growing threat of typhoon Juan also known with its international name as Megi.

Class Suspension Today
Classes Suspension Update As of October 18, 2010 : 6:00 AM – Only Pre-School classes are suspended in Metro Manila. Elementary to College are not suspended.

The Undersecretary of Education, Alberto Muyot said that the suspension of classes is applicable to both public and privates schools from Kinder to Grade 6. Meanwhile, classes for High School and College levels were not mentioned so I guess this will depend on the school and students must inquire to their respective schools if classes are suspended. I think the Department of Education must further improve their dissemination of class suspension such as this one because it creates a lot of confusion for the students.

Here are the areas that are affected by Typhoon Juan
Signal No. 3
1. Cagayan
2. Calayan Islands
3. Babuyan Islands
4. Isabela

Signal No. 2
1. Batanes Islands
2. Ilocos Norte
3. Ilocos Sur
4. Apayao
5. Abra
6. Kalinga
7. Mountain Province
8. Ifugao
9. Nueva Vizcaya
10. Quirino
11. Northern Aurora

Signal No. 1
1. La Union
2. Benguet
3. Pangasinan
4. Nueva Ecija
5. Aurora

Apparently, the suspension of classes in Metro Manila was not announced yet. I will be updating this page as soon as new information comes from DepEd.

Classes in Elementary to College are not suspended. Only Pre-School classes are suspended in Metro Manila. Further updates will be provided as the weather outside seems to get worse. We might experience heavy rains a few hours from now just like what happened in the past. We really can’t rely on PAGASA nowadays. They have to improve their equipments and personnel to give us better directions.
