
Heisman Winner- In an emotional acceptance, Mark Ingram wiped away tears and said,
“I’m a little overwhelmed right now. I’m just so excited to bring Alabama their first Heisman winner.”
Mark Ingram : 2009 Heisman Trophy Winner
In the closest vote in the Heisman history, Alabama Crimson Tide sophomore tailback Mark Ingram won the 2009 Heisman Trophy with 227 first place votes and 1,304 votes total. The 21-year-old outstanding college football player of the year is the son of former NFL wide receiver Mark Ingram Sr., who retired in 1996.
Toby Gerhart of Stanford second place finished close with 222 first place votes and 1,276 total votes. Third place finisher was Colt McCoy of Texas with 203 first place votes and 1,145 total votes. Fourth place finisher was Ndamukong Suh of Nebraska and the last was Florida’s Tim Tebow.
Well, Congratulations to Mark Ingram as the newest Heisman winner. He won it with heart and skill. His coach did not over play him, or keep him in, so that they could run up his stats. His coach did the right thing, and put the good of the player above the desire to get his player a trophy.
